The new Copilot bring generative AI to Microsoft’s 365 apps like Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and more, allowing users to ask the AI to carry out complex tasks through text input. This new functionality is based on OpenAI’s new GPT-4 language learning model.
Some of the examples used include creating email drafts from scratch, creating presentations on the fly, including adding it’s own relevant stock photos, writing one page drafts based on notes from a meeting, and also analyzing and automatically summarizing big spreadsheets to emphasize important data.
Microsoft says it is currently testing Copilot with a small group of customers, including 8 Fortune 500 enterprises, and will be expanding rollout in the coming months.
